At Melton Mowbray Tennis Club (MMTC) our coaching programme aims to encourage as many youngsters as possible into the game and to equip them with the knowledge, skills and enthusiasm to achieve their tennis potential.

In addition, the performance squads are an opportunity for the best players in the area to practise together in a team environment and to achieve at a higher level through greater commitment and higher expectations.

At MMTC the programme is lead by Di Burdett, Head Coach. Within the programme, players are expected to be involved fully in their own club programme and if possible to receive some individual coaching. Fitness is a key feature of the training programme and new regular fitness tests will enable players to monitor their own levels.

Performance
Performance is about setting a standard which can be achieved through the quality, intensity, work rate and attitude of a good individual player. The commitment, enthusiasm and success of individual players will help achieve a good team bond and lead to a successful programme.

Competition
This is an increasing area of importance for all players and changes in British Tennis will lead to more opportunities for players to compete both in teams and as individuals to improve their game. Competitions are graded from 7-1 progressing from local club to county, regional and finally national level.
Special hoodies with their names on the back are also available for all performance players to buy.

We cater for every primary school in the Melton Borough and pride ourselves in offering every child the opportunity to get involved and enjoy six weeks of group coaching in reception and year 1.

Throughout the year we organise a schools mini red competition which is played indoors for years 3 and below, as well as orange and green outdoor competitions. Quite a lot of the schools we work with are members of the BSTA (British Schools Tennis Association.)

We are also able to do school festivals which involves the school sending a team to our venue, to help the children learn new skills and have fun.
